Jon Favreau's 'Chef' Now a Big 'Iron Man 2' Party, and Sony Demands They Stop It

May 15, 2013

Jon Favreau may finally be giving comic book fans the film they've been looking for: Iron Man 2, but with more scenes on a foot truck. Variety reports that the writer-director-actor's upcoming starring vehicle, Chef, will now have Scarlett Johansson join her former co-stars Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. She'll play the "sometimes" love interest and former restaurant manager to Favreau before he gets fired and starts his own mobile eatery. Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, and Bobby Cannavale, will also appear. Bradley Cooper, incidentally, will not--but what he will do is star in a different movie also enticingly titled Chef, and that's apparently got Sony pretty upset.

Deadline reports the studio has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Weinstein-produced Favreau film, Sony demanding that production change its name to avoid confusion with how Coops also cooks things in a movie. It isn't yet clear who's going to back down on the matter, but hopefully this gets sorted out soon. I'm sick of saying "Chef" and having to clarify that, invariably, I'm talking about whoever forgot to put the marinara in with my mozzarella sticks.
