As is often the case when it comes to divisive and powerfully-significant historical figures, there will be more than one film needed to examine the many interesting facets of Quicksilver, the Marvel comics guy who runs fast. Delving into how Quicksilver is, on the one hand, an X-Men guy who runs fast, we've got Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, which recently cast Evan Peters (above right) as the superhero. Meanwhile, Joss Whedon's Avengers 2 will take a radically different approach to Quicksilver, supposing he's instead an Avenger guy who runs fast, thus completing a complex portrait of a running guy.
But it seems at least one aspect of the portrayals may remain the same, beyond how they'll both involve a guy running fast: each will probably make you think, "Oh, that guy was shaggy-haired in Kick-Ass," as TheWrap reports Aaron Johnson has become the frontrunner for the Quicksilver part in Avengers 2. No final decision has yet been made, and Marvel isn't commenting on the matter, but at least now that we know that's the direction things are headed. Hold out hope for Chloe Moretz and Nicolas Cage as rival Scarlet Witches.
