'12 Years a Slave' Trailer: The 'Shame' Team Takes on a Slightly Larger Shame

July 16, 2013

Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Pitt, Michael K. Williams, Paul Giamatti--is this for real? Yes, and, sadly, so was SLAVERY. Like Tarantino last year, Shame director Steve McQueen has lined up a hugely impressive, Basterd-filled lineup for his tackling of the subject, 12 Years a Slave. The antebellum drama casts Ejiofor as Solomon Northup, a real-life northern free man who was ambushed, abducted, and sold into bondage. Fassbender plays the extremely hatable slave owner, and Pitt finally shows up a dozen years later as a Canadian abolitionist. Assuming you haven't had enough powerful displays of racism this week, take a look at the trailer below.
