Following a string of issues, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa have at last finished casting on Focus by securing Will Smith a new 23-year-old to kiss. They have reportedly secured Australian Pan Am actress Margot Robbie to play the female lead in their heist film, which sees a con-man falling for his now two-decades-younger apprentice.
The parts were originally written for the Crazy, Stupid, Love. directors' previous leads, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, and when they were unavailable to pull a co-star hat trick, Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart were invited to instead give audiences the emotionally flat romance they've always wanted. Unfortunately, Affleck also dropped out due to other commitments, and when Will Smith signed on to replace him, Stewart followed suit, reportedly citing the age difference as her concern--even if it's evidently not in her actual life. The like-aged Robbie doesn't do anything solve the disparity with Smith, but we can all agree that at least she isn't related to him.
