Though it's been in development for over a decade now, Imagine Entertainment's long-gestating James Brown film is still moving forward, because it is indeed the hardest working biopic in Brian Grazer's brain. Variety reports the film is now shrugging off its glittering cape with 42 star Chadwick Boseman signed to return to serviceable biopics in the lead role. The actor had reportedly been eyed for weeks but only now got the offer, as the film only just got an official greenlight when The Help's Tate Taylor got attached to direct.
The still-untitled film is said to follow the musician's life from his poor upbringing in Georgia to being christened Soul's godfather. Due to ratings concerns, it will likely not reveal Brown's legendary homemade sex machine.
