'Outbreak' Will Be a TV Show Now

Outbreak, the Contagion of 1995, is headed to NBC thanks to the executive producers of ER, NBC's last successful serial drama since 1995. According to Deadline, the network has given a pilot commitment for a one-hour drama to be based on the Wolfgang Petersen scare piece, which originally starred Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman, and hazmat suits. Like the film, the series will be a medical thriller staged around an ensemble cast trying to keep an Ebola-like virus from becoming a global pandemic. The things NBC will do to keep working with that monkey from Animal Practice.
