Sam Rockwell Is the 'Poltergeist' Remake's New Craig T. Nelson

August 6, 2013

Needing someone to replace Craig T. Nelson as the lead in Poltergeist and head coach of the Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles football program, MGM and Fox 2000 are reportedly looking at Sam Rockwell for the job. According to TheWrap, the actor is in talks to join Rosemarie DeWitt in the remake, which is being produced by Sam Raimi and just-as-aptly directed by Monster House's Gil Kenan. Raimi's Oz writer David Lindsay-Abaire has provided the script, which again sees a family dealing with the supernatural abduction of their daughter. In modernizing the story, though, now the girl is named Madison instead of Carole Anne, and instead of static snow, now she'll assumedly reach into a television's horrifying "no signal / select input" screen. Spooky!
