House Republicans Successful in Demand for Free Small Popcorns

October 2, 2013

It's just day two of the government shutdown, but already the GOP is tasting their first buttery victory: free popcorn, y'all! Offering salty relief to the many federal employees now not getting paid and with entire workdays they need to kill doing something, AMC Theatres is reportedly giving a free small popcorn to anyone with a valid government or military ID. "The offer is good until common sense is restored in Washington D.C., or, more likely, until the shutdown ends or we run out of free popcorn," joked the theater chain in a statement. Surprisingly, a ticket purchase is not necessary to redeem the offer. Feel free to just sit in the lobby munching and contemplating the failure of the U.S. government at its most powerful and literal. You know, in case you can't decide between dire, theatrical demonstrations of partisan politics or Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
