New 'Wolf of Wall Street' Trailer: Don't Forget Scorsese, Oscar Voters

October 30, 2013

Monuments Men, Foxcatcher, and Grace of Monaco are among several potential awards contenders that have been bumped to next year, but it's hard to be too disappointed when we've got so much joyful, criminal, period excess to look forward to in the coming months. December is bringing us both American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street, two incredibly fun-looking tales vaguely reminiscent of Goodfellas--in Wolf of Wall Street's case, probably because Scorsese actually directed it.

It's still not clear which will be the frontrunner come Oscar time, but here's a new trailer for Wolf that makes a pretty strong case for itself--even hinting that Jonah Hill's once-surprising nomination won't be his last, and that Matthew McConaughey might likewise pull a supporting nod. If it indeed ends up being those two up against, say, McConaughey's Dallas Buyers Club co-star Jared Leto and Will Forte in Nebraska, this is going to be a very, very tough race to explain to 2009.
