Weekend Box Office: Government Shutdown Doesn't Hinder Success of Fictional Space Program

Your weekend box office:

1. Gravity - $55.6 million. I didn't get around to seeing it, so please, no one tell me how gravity works.

2. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 - $21.5 million, still holding up pretty well for a sequel to Cloud Atlas.

3. Runner Runner - $7.6 million. Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake just weren't meant to be together in a feature film. They were meant to be together in a three-minute late night television sketch.

4. Prisoners - $5.7 million. Some people just like to wait and see child abduction stories after they've been out a few weeks, when the theaters are less packed with child abductors.

5. Rush - $4.4 million. After three weekends, the film has made only $18 million, likely killing the Xbox One launch title Ron Howard's Formula One Adventure.
