'Star Trek 3' Might Have a Director Familiar with Aliens

November 4, 2013

Star Trek lost J.J. Abrams when the director switched to Star Wars bedsheets, but it looks like Paramount has finally found someone else to take over their lens flariest franchise. Deadline reports that the studio is currently looking at giving the job to Joe Cornish, director of the fun but largely-overlooked South London alien invasion film Attack the Block. Cornish also co-wrote Tintin with Edgar Wright, and more recently the two directors again teamed up for Marvel's Ant-Man script. Since Abrams' last film plucked elements from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, it's not yet clear if that means we still have another movie to go before we get to see any motherfuckin' whales.
