'Terminator' Reboot Found Its New Kyle Reese

February 19, 2014

Jai Courtney has re-established his reputation as the third-shift friend who always has to work late, so he shows up when we're already four in and things are dwindling down. According to Variety, the Good Day to Die Hard co-star has signed on to join Terminator: Genesis, the fifth Terminator film and one meant to set up a stand-alone trilogy. He's attached to play Kyle Reese, the role played by Michael Biehn in the original film and by Anton Yelchin in Salvation. Much as Courtney was sent back from Australia to stop fellow traveler Sam Worthington from taking every role that calls for a nondescript cipher, Reese was the one sent back from the future to stop Schwarzenegger's spooky metal skeleton from killing Linda Hamilton and preventing the birth of John Connor. Thor: The Dark World's Alan Taylor is directing. Courtney joins Jason Clarke's John Connor, Emilia Clarke's Sarah Connor, and Arnold Schwarzenegger's Grandpa Terminator.
