'Jungle Book' To Be Directed by Experienced Animal-Man Andy Serkis

March 21, 2014

Andy Serkis is attached to bring his extensive knowledge of crawling around like an animal to Warner Bros.' The Jungle Book adaptation. According to THR, he's now directing the project, taking over Alejandro González Iñárritu after talks with Ron Howard fell apart. His Jungle Book will be going up against Disney's rival film, which already has Idris Elba signed to voice Shere Khan and more experienced director Jon Favreau at the helm. Following Serkis's work as second unit director on The Hobbit films, this will mark his debut as a feature director. It will also mark the first time a director stops a scene mid-take to say, "Look, idiot, here's how you play G.D. orangutan."
