"I don't think it's a truck at all! I think we just found a Transformer." So begins Mark Wahlberg's adventure in probably finding a Transformer in Michael Bay's latest experiment in inscrutable metallurgy, Transformers: Age of Extinction. As is frequently the case when someone finds a Transformer, that leads to explosions. In this trailer alone, a boat explodes. Some cars explode. Buildings explode. The ground explodes. Titles explain that "the rules have changed." The new rules are that characters must intermittently re-enact scenes from other films. Stanley Tucci goes with the part in Harry and the Hendersons where John Lithgow chases off his bigfoot. Optimus Prime goes with the best part in Peter Jackson's King Kong, when Kong fucks up a dinosaur. The rest of the cast plays it safe with various scenes of running and hiding behind cars from all the prior Transformers movies.
