Just a few weeks ago, it was rumored that Baz Luhrmann would direct a big-screen adaptation of Kung Fu, which didn't exactly sound like something he would do. Now comes word he may direct an Elvis biopic, which sounds exactly like the kind of musical, flashy, death-by-excess thing he would do.
According to The Wrap, Luhrmann is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct a script about The King currently being written by Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey writer Kelly Marcel. His deal is said to be close to closing, and the studio has reportedly already "secured rights to all musical components in Presley's catalog for this project."
