Austin Powers franchise director Jay Roach is in talks for the latest sequel in his Joy of Swinging series. Variety reports that he'll likely direct The Trade, a film about the 1970s scandal during which some squares got all uptight about Yankees pitchers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich swapping wives. (Petersen was a switch-hitter and Kekich was a relief pitcher, so it kind of made sense double-entendre-wise.) Casey Affleck rewrote the script from a draft by Seinfeld and Curb writer David Mandel, and Matt Damon was once attached to direct and co-star with Ben Affleck. Perhaps recognizing how suspicious that might look, now the two longtime friends are just producing and privately continuing to share their wives.
