Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua in Talks for 'Magnificent Seven' Remake

June 5, 2014

The Training Day and Equalizer remake team of Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua are in talks to once again have Denzel shoot some dudes. The two are reportedly in early talks for a remake of The Magnificent Seven, the 1960 John Sturges western that starred Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, but frustratingly, not Denzel Washington. The re-do--which will basically be a double-remake, since the original was already a variously Westernized Seven Samurai--has long been in the works, and Tom Cruise was once attached to headline. Cruise is no longer involved officially, but he will continue to use the term "magnificent' when thinking about how he'd describe himself.
