Nod Ya Head, Because of a Concussion: Will Smith To Research Football's Brain Injury Epidemic

June 4, 2014

As is long overdue for the father of Jaden Smith, Will Smith is going to do some research into brain injuries. According to Variety, the star of Ali will once again deal with the consequences of head pummeling for Ridley Scott's untitled drama about football's brain injury problem. Fresh Prince would reportedly play Dr. Bennet Omalu, the forensic neuropathologist who first discovered the degenerative disease CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) in a pro footballer. Omalu became a whistleblower on the disease's connection to 300-pound men purposely ramming each other as hard as they can. Naturally, Smith plans to draw on his own experiences whistleblowing, such as the time he whistled for a cab to come near and take him to Bel-Air.
