'Community' Officially Gets Another Season, on Yahoo

July 1, 2014

Good news for Human Beings: Community is coming back, and it will still have regular commercial interruptions.

As you may recall, after Hulu passed on saving the series last Tuesday, Sony Pictures Television was left with only a week to find a new buyer before contracts would expire at the end of the month. But, as an insider pointed out then, "a lot can happen in one week," and what did happen was that Yahoo picked up Community for another 13 episodes.

All the main cast is returning--besides the already-lost Chase and Glover, naturally--as is proven-integral showrunner Dan Harmon, who said in a statement, "I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!"

The new season will arrive at a yet-undetermined date this fall on Yahoo Screen, the ad-based video service Yahoo is really hoping we'll finally be aware of now.

Sadly, there are still no plans for Party Down to get another run on Ask Jeeves.
