Animated Comedy Take on Noah's Ark To Lighten Up About All That Biblical Flooding

August 20, 2014

Heeding God's command to bring two of everything, Unified Pictures has hired on Kung Fu Panda director John Stevenson to give us our second CGI-heavy take on Noah's ark in as many years. As the choice of director implies, the film will avoid all the heavy stuff of Darren Aronofsky's Noah--and even Noah himself. The movie is described as an animated comedy told from the perspective of the animals, a Madagascar for the God-fearing. The story is said to follow an aardvark who, as someone with the word "ark" in their species, becomes the reluctant leader of "a ragtag group of misfit animals." This wild and wacky crew is headed for adventure, doomed to either watch their friends and family die below them or to themselves succumb to the floodwaters, their last gulped breaths spent praying that their species will not be lost to the wrath of a vengeful God. So that should be a fun one.
