Greengrass May Direct Hill/DiCaprio Olympic Bombing Movie

September 11, 2014

Always a fan of real-life thrillers like United 93, Captain Phillips, and the second Bourne movie, Paul Greengrass may next tackle a film about the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing. Deadline reports that Greengrass is currently "circling" a project about the attack, which already conveniently has the cast of Wolf of Wall Street set to star. Jonah Hill is attached to play Richard Jewell, the security guard who first noticed the bomb and subsequently became falsely accused as the perpetrator. DiCaprio will play the Southern real estate attorney who helped guide Jewell through the legalities of his situation and his eventual libel cases against the media.

Sadly, Jewell won't be around to see his cinematic vindication: he passed away in 2007, still hounded by erroneous claims that we'd probably only get Kevin Farley to play him in a movie.
