For years now, long before Warner Bros. started their most recent attempt at a DC comics universe, Dwayne Johnson has had well-established dibs on playing either the villainous Black Adam or the title role in a Shazam movie, should one ever happen. It's been kind of bullshit that he'd call double dibs like that, but we accepted that, because The Rock is much larger than every other human. But it looks like the studio has at last found the balls to make the actor decide which rubber bodysuit he's going to force himself into, and despite his affable charms, it seems he's going the darker route.
"'Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot.' My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics," Johnson tweeted today. To that, Variety had added that the decision comes as Warner has finally started moving forward on the long-gestating project; they've hired on Turbo and Jack the Giant Slayer writer Darren Lemke for the screenplay. At last, we will see The Rock with a different strange hairline than usual.
