Archie Comics, the series everyone at the malt shop just can't stop talking about, may be headed to television. Fox and Arrow produer Greg Berlanti have put into development Riverdale, a series to be based on Archie's hometown and expansive cast of high schoolers with various hair colors.
Like many recent takes on Archie--say, Afterlife with Archie or Archie Meets Glee--the series will give a sort of post-modern spin to the comics and also involve Glee. Three-season Glee writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa--who was already involved in an attempt to launch an Archie movie--is writing a version that will reportedly "explore the surrealistic twists of small-town life, in addition to the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade." Perhaps we'll finally uncover the nefarious hidden truth as to why these two beautiful girls are fighting over fucking Archie.
