Late '80s/early '90s Saturday Night Live icon Jan Hooks has reportedly died. According to TMZ, the comic actress passed away earlier today in New York City due to an unspecified "serious illness" she had been battling for some time.

Hooks appeared in several films, including Pee-wee's Big Adventure, fellow Burton feature Batman Returns, Coneheads, and Simon Birch, but she'll likely be better remembered for her television roles. Beyond SNL, Hooks became a late addition to Designing Women, voiced Manjula Nahasapeemapetilon on The Simpsons, played wife to Martin Short on both Primetime Glick and The Martin Short Show, and earned an Emmy nod for her work on 3rd Rock from the Sun. Her last role was as Jenna's mom on 30 Rock.

Have a look below for probably her most famous filmed segment with Phil Hartman. Now you can feel doubly awful watching it!
