Having failed in their attempt to launch Baby Geniuses as a TV show, Starz is now attempting another film-to-series adaptation--one where they'll simply have to animate skeleton warriors instead of those fleshy toddler mouths. The premium cable network has officially announced that they've given a greenlight for the long, possibly too long-awaited follow-up to the 1992 Evil Dead sequel Army of Darkness. Titled Ash Vs. Evil Dead, the ten-episode series will see the 56-year-old Bruce Campbell reprise his role as Ash, "the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead." Sam Raimi is attached to write and direct. This could work out. Or, if not, Starz can just re-edit the episodes into sloppy movies and put them out straight-to-video, like they did with Baby Geniuses and the Mystery of the Crown Jewels.
