With The Lego Movie proving itself a massive worldwide hit, ON Entertainment is hoping they too may ride the success of crude, claw-handed little grinning humanoids with a Playmobil movie. Variety reports that the Parisian production company has secured rights to the toys and have begun development on an $80 million animated feature adaptation to feature all your favorite genderless cyphers.
The trade says ON will be bringing back the creative team behind their upcoming adaptation of The Little Prince, which is being directed by Kung Fu Panda's Mark Osborne. It's also claimed that "the toys brand will likely provide the filmmakers rich narrative material." After all, who among us has not pondered what it would be like to have Owen Wilson's hair, but made of plastic?
