'Jump Street' May Merge with 'Men in Black', Because Why Not, Sony Figures

December 10, 2014

Of all the invented 22 Jump Street follow-ups, this may be the one that's crazier than the 39 Jump Street dick-shooting electronic target game: a Jump Street/Men in Black merger film. But according to the latest leaked emails from Sony's trash folder, that's just what the studio is hoping to put out by 2016 or 2017.

"We don't have a script yet so we'll be greenlighting the movie off the concept and the talent involved," read one email referring to this bizarre crossover event. The talent involved? Apparently not Men in Black stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. This film will, seemingly, just take the Jump Street team and transplant them into the funeral-attired world of alien policing--assumedly by having Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum now go undercover as extraterrestrials that look way too old. Jump Street series directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are said to already be on board to produce if not direct, and an email from Hill has--possibly sarcastically--voiced the actor/storywriter's approval, saying, "jump street merging with mib i think that's clean and rad and powerful." Also fairly arbitrary and insane and desperate, but yeah, probably more fun than medical school.
