CBS has revealed when Stephen Colbert can finally start actually acting like himself on television. September 8--soon to be stylized "Septembert" in promos, knowing the network's crack marketing team--is when Colbert will finally take the reigns of The Late Show from David Letterman.

That's nine months from now--Colbert reportedly remarked, "Just like a baby. So first, I should find out how you make a baby"--but more notably, that's several months after Letterman's May 20 retirement. But don't worry, everyone, because CBS has a plan for the lengthy interim: primetime reruns! Truly, there is no humorless gap that can't be filled with Big Bang Theory's ceaseless laugh track.
