New 'Alien' Sequel Will Probably Just Ignore Those Last Two Movies

Stealing a none too successful move from the Superman Returns playbook, the new Alien sequel will apparently be the one that begs, "Hey, can we just ignore all the dumb shit these extraterrestrials did in the third and fourth films?"

At least that's the implication from Neill Blomkamp. Speaking to Sky News about his just-revealed Alien sequel, the director seemed to suggest that the events of Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection will be heedlessly tossed away, like basketballs nonchalantly tossed over the shoulder of an alien-human hybrid clone pulling a sweet trick shot.

"I want this film to feel like it is literally the genetic sibling of Alien," Blomkamp reportedly said. "So it's Alien, Aliens, and then this movie."

Meanwhile, also speaking to Sky, Sigourney Weaver teased that the film will at last give her character, Ripley, "a proper ending." Assuming the concept art Blomkamp posted before is still valid, uh, I guess that means suicide bombing?
