The black private dick that's a sex machine to all the chicks will once again return as a newer-model sex machine. According to The Wrap, the Shaft franchise is being resurrected again, New Line recently acquiring the rights and putting into development a new film in the series.
"Shaft could be the hero America needs at a time when the country is fraught with racial tension in the wake of fatal incidents in Ferguson, Missouri (Michael Brown), Staten Island, New York (Eric Garner) and Sanford, Florida (Trayvon Martin)," The Wrap added, giving Hollywood wayyyyyyy to much credit in their decision-making process.
The Shaft series began back in 1971 with the first, self-titled film, which was followed just a year later by Shaft's Big Score, and another year later by Shaft in Africa. A 2000 reboot by John Singleton recast the lead with Samuel L. Jackson playing Shaft's nephew, but the new film will again put a new actor in the starring role. As such, this becomes the one time mankind will ever be thankful that Tyler Perry already has his own detective franchise.
