Thanks to her double-platinum hit All I Want for Christmas Is You, Mariah Carey will likely for generations be aurally linked to the holiday season. But should she not also be visually linked to Christmas with a Glitter that sparkles with freshly-fallen snow and her removed engagement ring? Well, Mariah Carey thinks so, and now her pal Brett Ratner is going to take care of that for her.
According to Deadline, Ratner's RatPac is developing an untitled Christmas movie idea Carey brought the company, with Ratner's go-to Christmas writers (The Family Man's David Diamond and David Weissman) handling the script. Though details are scarce, the plan is for Carey to star and for the film to feature her music alongside the songs of other artists. The story will focus on "a theme of how the power of music can transport you back in time to your truest and most authentic feelings." So prepare for a magical trip back to 1994, when the image of Mariah Carey in a slutty Santa outfit was not yet tarnished by time and a season of American Idol.
