Netflix Picks Up Ricky Gervais's Eric Bana Satire

April 6, 2015

Ignoring that we still haven't even bothered finishing off Derek, Netflix is reinvesting in Ricky Gervais. The streaming giant has reportedly picked up the rights to Special Correspondents, Gervais's satire about journalist corruption. Eric Bana is already attached to star as "an arrogant, struggling New York-based radio journalist who fakes frontline war reports from a Spanish restaurant in Manhattan as a desperate ploy to save his job." The film is a loose remake of the French film Envoyés très spéciaux--or, as it's known by Brian Williams, "A Fantastic Idea."
