As Ron Howard's daughter explains in this new trailer, "Every time we've unveiled a new attraction, attendance has spiked. Corporate felt genetic modification would up the wow factor." For the in-film Jurassic World, that means the creation of a new beast that combines all the coolest dinosaur stuff, but made bigger. And for the film Jurassic World... it ends up meaning exactly the same thing.
Like, by all evidence, Terminator: Genisys, Jurassic World seems to be straddling the perimeter fence between greatest hits collection and in-canon reboot. Recycled ideas and memorable moments are all played again, but louder and by a band with just one original member keeping this from being an all-out tribute act (B.D. Wong plays the wizened Schwarzenegger part here).
In this dinosaur theme park, once again things get nuts, people get eaten, everyone is surprised at how smart and vicious some of the dinosaurs are, a duo of kids get pinned under glass, and the computer guy even seems to have Newman's glasses frames. But this time, there are also heavy weapons, a bunch of explosions, a Velociraptor motorcycle gang, and a really cool Ankylosaurus herd. This is the Jurassic Park film that let childhood you take a final pass at the script. We'll find out if that's that's for better or worse on June 12. In the meantime, here's our latest look:
