Michael Fassbender and director Justin Kurzel are next taking on an adaptation of the Assassin's Creed video game series. But before they get to such heavy, high art, they've decided to get a little light, breezy practice in with an adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth.
Fassbender stars in the title role and, like with the role of Magneto, he quickly establishes why he's the guy to get for a part Sir Ian McKellen already fucking killed it in. Whenever Peter Jackson ends up making an ill-advised, three-part Hobbit prequel, it had better be Fassbender's little shark teeth poking out of that Gandalf beard. Marion Cotillard co-stars as Lady Macbeth, and the entire production really just looks phenomenal. This is probably what Shakespeare imagined as he wrote, before he remembered how it would be performed on a nondescript stage with some dude playing Lady Macbeth.
