Though The Hateful Eight seems like an obvious Hanukkah release--an angry, hyperviolent westerner for each night!--it seems Tarantino's latest will instead hit theaters on Christmas Day. The Weinstein Company today officially set a December 25, 2015 release for the film, which is now opening directly against at least six others--including movies by the likes of Oliver Stone, Iñárritu, and David O. Russell, and also that Point Break remake. Hateful Eight will begin its run at only screens with 70mm projection available (it's said that about 50 more U.S. theaters will be equipped with the system in preparation), then expand nationwide on digital projection January 8, when everyone will have already spoiled all the surprises in Kurt Russell's mustache.
