Like the most desperate, rich, out-of-touch grandma, Sony has paid nearly a million dollars for someone to show them how to use emoji. The catch, though? They're paying to be shown how to use emoji as a major motion picture. And according to Deadline, for that they made a near seven-figure deal for an animated movie pitch based around those dumb things you text when you can't even be bothered to form words. Igor director Anthony Leondis brought in the pitch and will direct it and co-write it with Eric Siegel. True to the spirit of one of the most popular emoji, it will assumedly be a really cheery-looking pile of shit.
