Sam Mendes is once again hoping to pull himself away from the rugged grip and piercing eyes of Daniel Craig. Speaking to the BBC, the Skyfall director said that Spectre will likely be his last film--though even he recognizes that he said that after Skyfall, too, and yet here we are.
"I said no to [Spectre] and then ended up doing it, and was pilloried by all my friends," he said. "But I do think this is probably it. I don't think I could go down that road again. You do have to put everything else on hold."
Should Mendes indeed escape the pull of more Bond films, it's expected that the frequent stage director will return to his true passion, playing GoldenEye.
