Weekend Box Office: Male Strippers, Robotic Killers from the Future Deemed Un-American

July 6, 2015

It was the weekend the Unites States celebrates its declaration of independence as a nation. And this year, it was the weekend we declared our independence from muscular hunks that strip to reveal abs and/or metal skeletons.

Over the Fourth of July holiday, box office newcomers Terminator: Genisys and Magic Mike XXL both failed to break Jurassic World and Inside Out's holds on the top two spots, and each sequel came up far short of its predecessor.

Magic Mike XXL did manage one feat, though. The film managed to set a new opening percentage record for audience attendance by women, drawing crowds composed of 96% women who were not aware you could just watch pornography online.

Here's your weekend box office top five:

1. Inside Out - $29.8 million

2. Jurassic World - $29.4 million

3. Terminator: Genisys - $27.8 million

4. Magic Mike XXL - $12.8 million

5. Ted 2 - $11 million
