'Xena: Warrior Princess' Reboot Actually Happening at NBC

Hearing the news Lucy Lawless was pitching a revival of Xena: Warrior Princess, NBC sure didn't waste any time hopping on her Argo. (That's apparently the name of Xena's horse. I had to look it up.)

Anyway, THR is reporting that NBC has started early development and is already looking for a writer for a new Xena series described as a "modern reboot." It's said that a new actor would now take over as Xena, who now "would have to have the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of The Hunger Games' Katniss." And, assumedly, the strength to carry a heavy lesbian subtext across several seasons.

Though Lawless won't star, sources say NBC wants her both in front of the camera and behind the scenes on the show. Likewise, original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are also said to be involved in some capacity. Also like the original? You will probably only watch this if you don't have cable and it's aired at, like, 4 on a lonely Saturday, when the only other options are golf and some infomercials.
