Roland Emmerich Tries To Get Serious with 'Stonewall' Trailer

Though Roland Emmerich most commonly works in the planet-wide disaster themes of The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, and 2012, the director's latest imagines the end of the world only if you're a real nutball. A passion project of Emmerich's, Stonewall takes a look at a young gay man (War Horse's Jeremy Irvine) that moves to New York City and ends up being a part of the Stonewall riots, the violent, 1969 demonstrations that kickstarted the modern LGBT rights movement. Jonny Beauchamp, Ron Perlman, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Joey King, and Caleb Landry Jones co-star. Emmerich appears to show about his usual nuance. Here's the trailer:
