Cate Blanchett To Play Lucille Ball in Biopic from Aaron Sorkin

September 3, 2015

Sitcom icon Lucille Ball will be played by Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, our modern queen of hilarious physical comedy. The Wrap reports that Blanchett is attached to star in an authorized biopic on the I Love Lucy star that's being written by Academy Award-winning writer Aaron Sorkin. It's said that, like Sorkin's upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, the film will take a somewhat focused approach to telling Ball's story, looking at her 20-year marriage with Lucy co-star Desi Arnaz and, no doubt, her notorious struggles with chocolate.

While a couple TV movies have already covered the same ground, between the talents of Blanchett and Sorkin, this latest effort will almost certainly be the most memorable portrait of Lucy. Or... maybe the second most memorable...

Assuming hauntingly unsettling counts as memorable.
