'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Tries To Add McConaughey, Instead Gets Someone Else

October 29, 2015

Apparently hoping to fill their galaxy with only leading-man handsome, Texas-raised villains, Marvel and writer-director James Gunn recently put out an offer for Matthew McConaughey to succeed Lee Pace in being the chief baddy for the Guardians of the Galaxy team. But though the galaxy may need bad men to keep the other bad men from the door, McConaughey will not be any of said bad men: according to Variety, he has already turned down the part.

Marvel and Gunn have managed to fill another vacant spot in their cast, though. THR reports that Pom Klementieff, a French actress known stateside pretty much just for the Oldboy remake, is in talks to join Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 in a part that we only know was big enough to require "several rounds of chemistry reads." So whatever the role, congratulations to Klementieff for totally getting to hang out with Chris Pratt.
