No doubt delighting those fat cats driving the Star-Military-Industrial Complex, yet another Star War is proving to be a huge moneymaker. With the numbers coming in for last night's first-day ticket sales for The Force Awakens, already the film is setting records at the box office, with Fandango reporting that sales have eight times surpassed The Hunger Games to make Episode VII the highest first-day seller ever.

Additionally, IMAX is reporting that the film's pre-sales have also broken all of the large-format records; while prior top films like The Dark Knight Rises, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Avengers each made just under a million in one-day ticket sales, The Force Awakens last night sold over $6.5 Million in IMAX tickets. It's an insanely high new ticket sales speed record, but already I'm calling that if anything is going to top it, it's Star Wars: Episode VIII: The U2 Concert.
