Sad news, Terminator fans: it seems we may never find out whether there's a smaller, standard skeleton inside the metal skeleton exteriors of Terminator robots. According to The Hollywood Reporter (via), Paramount and Skydance have halted development on the franchise for the foreseeable future.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise considering how surprisingly well the recent Terminator: Genisys fared overseas. Though the film pretty much bombed here, opening in third place and recouping only $90 million of its $150 million-plus budget, it's managed to pull in over $350 million worldwide--much of that in China, where the idea of being enslaved by a high-tech electronics corporation is extremely relatable.
But despite the international box office, apparently Terminator: Genisys is still going to end up losing money somehow. Also, it's a very stupid movie. So, now it's said "the notion of a Terminator universe is on hold indefinitely," destroying itself for the good of us all.
