In a new update for its 95 million users, Facebook app Vin Diesel has revealed that the eighth Fast? Furious! film may bring back the franchise's original director, Rob Cohen.
"There has always been the desire by Paul to have Rob direct one more, this is what fueled my campaign," Diesel wrote. "I believe that he can and would reset the franchise nicely, returning to what was the core of the film in the beginning... racing. He would also handle the Brian O'connor issue with integrity, given that he and David Ayer were the ones who initially created that beloved character in the first place."
Whether Cohen will actually return or not remains to be seen, though; Diesel says for now he "will leave this matter in the studios hands for a moment" while he deals with his Last Witch Hunter promotional duties and shoots a xXx sequel. Cohen, meanwhile, will be quietly praying that no one remembers that his last movie was the abysmal The Boy Next Door.
UPDATE: Deadline claims that Universal has no interest in bringing Cohen back but is instead considering The Fast and the Furious cinematographer and Point Break remake director Ericson Core or Now You See Me's Louis Leterrier. Also, Vin Diesel keeps bringing up how maybe he could just direct it, but that is probably not going to happen.
