With recent and upcoming lead roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ex Machina, and X-Men: Apocalypse, there's little question that Oscar Isaac's star is wildly on the rise. But has he somehow already become Nicolas Cage? Well, maybe a little bit, says this trailer for William Monahan's Mojave.
The film stars Tron: Legacy's Garrett Hedlund as a movie star that drives off into the titular desert to try and find himself, or something. That something ends up being Isaac, who he finds dressed in Nicolas Cage's weird duster/hat combo from The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and doing the sort of strange, arbitrary accent and scenery chewing you'd expect from Cage in a low-budget thriller.
Following suit, the film, too, seems to devolve into low-budget thriller mode. Hedlund leaves the desert, but he soon learns that it's easier to shake the sand from your shoes than it is to get Isaac to stop following you. So begins an intense cat-and-mouse game that alternates between violent stalking and just catching up on threats over some drinks.
But hey! It's an Inside Llewyn Davis reunion! Oscar Isaac fucking killed in that, before he became Nicolas Cage.
