At last treating the Greatest Generation to the kind of warm nostalgia Millennials get daily on Buzzfeed, John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan are going to star in a Laurel & Hardy movie. According to Deadline, the duo have signed on to play the comic duo in Stan & Ollie, a film written by Coogan's Philomena co-writer and to be directed by Filth's Jon S. Baird. You can figure out who's playing who.
Rather than go the straight biopic route, the film will reportedly focus on an aged Laurel and Hardy embarking on a sparsely attended but well-received 1953 tour that sees "long buried ghosts, coupled with Oliver's failing health, start to threaten their precious partnership." Or, to put it simply, it will be The Trip and Step Brothers stuffed into a bowler hat.
