Joseph Fiennes To Play Michael Jackson in Post-9/11 Road Trip Dramedy

January 27, 2016

Today in casting that you can see where they're coming from but also yikes, Joseph Fiennes has confirmed that he'll be playing Michael Jackson in a TV movie for Sky Arts. According to this incredibly ill-timed report, Fiennes will be joined by Stockard Channing as Elizabeth Taylor and Brian Cox as Marlon Brando in Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon, a film said to detail the bizarre road trip the three supposedly took in 2001. As the debatably true story goes, the unlikely trio wanted to get out of New York City after the September 11 attacks, and with air travel cancelled, they piled into a rental car and made it to Ohio on a would-be cross-country journey--stopping frequently for Brando to get fast food, which definitely does sound true. The film is being written by Neil Forsyth. Assuming I understood Shakespeare in Love correctly, that guy is totally going to fall in love with Fiennes once he realizes he's actually a white actor in disguise.
