Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander Have Beautiful, Tragic Adoption Story with 'Light Between Oceans' Trailer

The Place Beyond the Pines writer-director Derek Cianfrance has come up with a new "[noun] [preposition] [plural noun]" combination for us, and this one looks like a real doozy. The Light Between Oceans sees hugely rising stars Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander as a couple that tends a remote lighthouse, where they live childless, allowing them to truly pursue their personal lighthouse passions. One day, though, an infant and a corpse wash up in a lifeboat, and Magneto and Ex-Machina ignore the body and are like, "Hey, free kid!" They raise the girl for a couple years, but upon returning to the mainland, they're taken aback when someone introduces them to Rachel Weisz, woman whose husband and daughter-who-would-have-been-their-adopted-child's-age were lost at sea two years ago. They can see where this is going. You probably can do. But still, here's a trailer for this beautifully-shot exploration of the "finders keepers" philosophy:
