Final 'Divergent' Film To Now Be Cheaper

March 22, 2016

The poor man's Hunger Games is about to get even poorer. THR reports that, with the latest Divergent Series movie not even breaking $30 million domestically in its opening weekend, Lionsgate is reconsidering how much money they're pouring into these things. As a result, it's said that the budget on Ascendant, the fourth and final chapter of this prolonged franchise, has been abruptly cut ahead of the movie's summer shoot. To accommodate the change, the film will now focus on a terrifying, dystopian world where you can't even effectively stretch a pandering, three-book young-adult trilogy across four forgettable films.
